The kitchen sink is a magnet for dirt and grease. Although we wash it often when we wash hands, clean vegetables, do the dishes as well as all sorts of other households, it does not mean that it stays clean after washing up.

In this blog, we will show you a general guide on how to keep your kitchen sink gleaming.

General cleaning tips suggested by HAPPY SiNKS

1. Always clean your sink after preparing raw foods, and rinse away liquids like tea which may stain.
2. Do not leave wet cloths and sponges sitting in the sink because residues of food, drink, or cleaning chemicals in the cloth or sponge could stain the sink, and encourage the grow the bacteria. Hint: We recommend using a cloth holder and sponge holder in the sink.

Limescale

If your water's source is hard, limescale can build up in and around your sink which creates a haven for bacteria. Simply fill up a spray bottle with half white vinegar and half water and use it regularly to clean the sink to keep limescale at bay. Or use our Multi-purpose cleaning liquid for your convenience. Always rinse thoroughly with plain water afterward.

Ceramic Sinks

Ceramic sinks have become increasingly popular in the last decade, but if you are not careful, these sinks can stain. For deep cleaning, use cream cleaners to help keep the sink sparkling. You can also use an eco-friendly alternative of bicarbonate soda and water to scrub the sink.

Regarding the stubborn stains, put the plug in, fill with warm water and add some washing powder. Leave the solution to soak for a few hours or overnight.

Stainless steel sinks

In opposite with ceramic sinks, stainless steel sinks are relatively maintenance-free. As long as you keep the sink clean with general cleaning tips, and remove limescale deposits, stainless steel sinks should not require too much deep cleaning.

To keep the stainless steel sink shining without watermarks, we recommend buffing with a fine sponge cloth after cleaning. Our Swedish Dishcloth can absorb over 16 times of its own weight, and effectively revive the shine of the sink.

Composite and granite composite sinks

These sinks can come in a vast array of colors. They also require low maintenance, however, you should avoid using acid-based cleaner regularly. Diluted vinegar as recommended above can still be used to remove limescale build-up, but never use a neat vinegar and always rinse away thoroughly after use.
