How to use the KONNA Fruit Fly Trap
Fruit flies can be annoying in any home or business. These tiny insects can quickly infest your kitchen, pantry, or other areas where fruits and vegetables are present. Fortunately, using a KONNA fruit fly trap can effectively help you get rid of these pesky insects. Let’s go through the process of using a KONNA fruit fly trap to keep your space fly-free.
1. Prepare the bait liquid
Here are our favourite bait liquid's recipes for KONNA:
Recipe 1: Apple Cider Vinegar
Ingredients:
- Apple Cider Vinegar: 25 ml
- Water: 25 ml
- Sugar: 0,5 tbsp
- Dish Soap: A few drops
Instructions:
- Mix Ingredients: Inside KONNA container, combine the apple cider vinegar and water. Stir to mix them together.
- Add Sugar: Add the sugar to the vinegar and water mixture. Stir until the sugar is completely dissolved. The sugar helps attract the fruit flies to the bait.
- Add Dish Soap: Add a few drops of dish soap to the mixture. The dish soap breaks the surface tension of the liquid, causing the fruit flies to sink into the liquid when they land on it, rather than floating on the surface.
Recipe 2: Red Wine Trap
Ingredients:
- Red Wine: 25 ml
- Dish Soap: A few drops
Instructions:
- Use Red Wine: Pour red wine into a small container.
- Add Dish Soap: Add a few drops of dish soap and gently mix. The soap will break the surface tension of the wine, causing fruit flies to sink in when they land on it.
Recipe 3: Banana Bait
Ingredients:
- Overripe Banana: half
- Plastic Wrap
Instructions:
- Mash the banana: Mash the overripe banana in a container.
- Cover the base: Cover the container of KONNA with plastic wrap and poke small holes in the plastic wrap.
- Place the head: Close the fruit fly trap with the head of KONNA fruit fly trap. The fruit flies will be drawn to the banana from the head opening and enter through the holes but won't be able to escape.
You can also try the above recipe without the plastic wrap.
Recipe 4: Vinegar and Ripe Fruit
Ingredients:
- Vinegar (Apple Cider Vinegar or Wine Vinegar): 25 ml
- Ripe Fruit (e.g., a slice of banana or a piece of overripe peach): half
- Plastic Wrap
Instructions:
- Place the fruit: Place the ripe fruit in a small container.
- Add vinegar: Pour the vinegar over the fruit.
- Cover the base: Cover the KONNA fruit fly trap with plastic wrap and poke small holes in it. Fruit flies will be attracted to both the vinegar and the ripe fruit.
You can also try the above recipe without the plastic wrap.
Recipe 5: Fruit Juice and Honey Bait
Ingredients:
- Fruit Juice (e.g., apple or orange juice): 25 ml
- Honey: 0,5 tbsp
Instructions:
- Mix Ingredients: Mix the fruit juice and honey in a container. Stir well to combine.
- Place the trap: Place the KONNA trap near the fruit fly activity. The sweet juice and honey will lure the fruit flies into the trap.
Recipe 6: Vinegar and Dish Soap Jar
Ingredients:
- Vinegar (Apple Cider Vinegar or White Vinegar): 25 ml
- Dish Soap: A few drops
Instructions:
- Add vinegar: Pour the vinegar into a container.
- Add soap: Add a few drops of dish soap and gently stir. Fruit flies will be attracted by the vinegar and get trapped in the soapy liquid.
2. Fill it up
Fill KONNA with 25-50ml of your choice of mixed bait liquid. Mix the bait liquid according to your recipe, except the dish washing liquid. Add old fruit if there is. Lastly, add the dish washing liquid on the top of the mixture and don't mix anymore (soap should stay on top of the liquid).
3. Ready to use
Align the head of KONNA to match the symbol on the base. Twist the head and close it tightly. Place KONNA on your kitchen counter or close to fruit bowl or houseplants. KONNA is now ready to attract and catch fruit flies with non-toxic bait liquid.
4. Clean and reuse
Depending on how much fruit flies are around your house, it is recommended to wash and replace a new bait liquid in every 2 weeks. KONNA is safe for dishwasher so it’s super easy to clean.
